Whether you're a newbie or a returning client, those butterflies will always pop up! How do you release the tension and capture your authentic self on camera (which leads to the BEST pictures)? We're here to give you some tips! Keep reading...
Rest, Relax, and Recharge
The night before your photography session, make sure you get enough sleep.
A well-rested body and mind will help you look and feel your best in front of the camera. Turn off all electronics at least an hour before bedtime to ensure a good night's sleep. The blue light from screens can interfere with your ability to fall asleep, so it's best to put your phone, tablet, or laptop away. Create a calming environment by turning on a fan for white noise and keeping your room dark. A peaceful night's rest will help you wake up refreshed and ready for your session.
Prepare and Organize
Have everything you're bringing ready and prepared.
This includes your outfits, accessories, and any other items relevant to your session. Planning ahead will help reduce stress on the day of your shoot. Lay out your clothing choices and ensure they are clean, wrinkle-free, and ready to go. Think about the accessories that complement your outfits, such as jewelry, hats, or scarves. If you have any special props or personal items you'd like to include in your photos, make sure they are easily accessible. Of course, you'll already know what we have at the studio for you to use beforehand from our initial get-to-know-you consultation, which helps a lot too! This way, you can focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about last-minute details.
Build a Connection with Your Photographer
Getting to know your photographer is key!
Don't be afraid to ask questions and seek advice. We promise we aren't scary! Building a rapport with your photographer can make a significant difference in how comfortable and relaxed you feel during your session. Take some time to chat with us before the shoot. Share your ideas, preferences, and any concerns you might have. We're here to ensure you have the best experience possible and to capture your unique personality and style. The more we know about you, the better we can tailor the session to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
Practice Makes Perfect
This might sound silly but get in front of a mirror and practice.
Move your body, see what angles you like, try out different expressions, and feel comfortable moving around. This exercise can boost your confidence and help you become more aware of your best features and poses. Experiment with different facial expressions and body language to see what works best for you. By the time you step in front of the camera, you'll feel more natural and self-assured, which will shine through in your photos.
